Composition:
Each 5ml suspension contains: Metronidazole Benzoate equivalent to Metronidazole 125mg.
Pharmacological Classification:
Broad and medium spectrum antibiotics.
Pharmacologicalaction:
Metronidazole, a synthetic antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent of the nitroimidazole class, is used against protozoa such as Trichomonas vaginalis, amebiasis, and giardiasis. Metronidazole is extremely effective against anaerobic bacterial infections and is also used to treat Crohn’s disease, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and rosacea.
Indications:
For the treatment of anaerobic infections and mixed infectons, surgical prophylaxis requiring anaerobic coverage, clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea and colitis, Helicobacter pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease,bacterial vaginosis, Giardia lamblia gastro-enteritis, amebiasis caused by entamoeba histolytica, acne rosacea （topical treatment）, and trichomonas infections.
Contra-indications:
Sensitivity to metronidazole. Metronidazole should not be used in patients with blood dyscrasias or with active disease of the central nervous system. The use of metronidazo should be avoided during pregnancy,especially the first trimester and whilst breast-feeding.
Dosage and directions for use:
In all cases, you must strictly comply with your doctor’s prescription.
Amebiasis:
Children: 1.2 to 1.6 ml/kg/day(or 30 to 40 mg/kg/day),divided into 3 doses.
Duration of treatment: for 7 to 10 days (in general).
Lambliasis:
Children: Form 2 to 5 years old: 10 ml/day ( or 250 mg/day).
Form 5 to 10 years old: 15ml/day ( or 375 mg/day).
Form 10 to 15 years old: 20 ml/day (or 500 mg/day).
The daily dose should be divided into 2 doses.
Duration of treatment: for 5 to 7 days (in general).
Anaerobic bacterial infections:
Children: 0.8 to 1.2 ml/kg/day ( or 20 to 30 mg/kg/day), divided into 3 doses.
Side-effects and special precautions:
Headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, unpleasant metallic taste, anorexia, dizziness, skin allergy.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist about any undesirable effect which is not mentioned in this leaflet.
Known symptoms of overdosage and particulars of its treatment:
Gastro-intestinal disturbances which clears within a few days of stopping treatment.

125mg/5ml- Packs in 100ml bottles.
Store below 30°C. protect from light and moisture.
